Dancin’ in the Lavender Farms
It was a Sunday. I had arrived in London a day and a half before and whilst playing with my 3 month old niece could have occupied me for the rest of my trip (she is one cute baby!), being cooped up on a beautiful sunny day was not working for me. So after a little bit of whining, my brother conceded defeat but also broke the news to me that it was Ride London and all major roads in and out of London were probably going to be closed. We persevered, decided that we wouldn’t let a pesky thing like closed roads stop us and set off for the Mayfields Lavender Farms.
I’d seen pictures of lavender farms populating my instagram feed over the last couple of years and had been wanting to visit ever since. I was determined that 2016 would be the year.
The farm was beautiful. Rows upon rows of lavender plants. But, all I could think, and you will understand this sentiment if you’ve ever seen a Bollywood film, is that I wanted to run through the fields with a Bollywood number playing in the background. Suraj Hua Madham, anyone?
Apart from taking the obligatory photos, we enjoyed the musical stylings of a singer-songwriter duo, enjoyed a lavender muffin and stocked up on plenty of lavender products.
All in all, a nice way to spend an afternoon in London.
